Superheroes vs nightmares

We were superheroes today. Miles alternately chased and ran from the nightmares. A few wonderful excerpts from our conversations as we were either running away from, or chasing our antagonists:
“I see the nightmares coming!”
“I have a superwatch ( on his wrist, and no he doesn’t), it’s red. Look at your watch like me! What time is it? My watch says it’s time for flying.”
“I need rope! For catching em!”
“He’s a big one”
“I hear birds, let’s talk to them. Not to the nightmares, they are scary.”
“This book is for the nightmares. They will read it.”
“We can’t! We don’t have swords! We are superheroes, not pirates.”
“The nightmares want to eat all our pancakes all gone that we eat sometimes.”
“We scared em. They drove away in their car to their cave (the laundry room)”
(Miles twists the pepper grinder making it snow pepper all over the table) “I made a mess for them! That’s a good idea, cause my pepper pieces are so they won’t touch any of this.”
